"Szeretettel meghívjuk Önöket egy panelbeszélgetésre, ahol lengyel, bírói függetlenséggel foglalkozó jogászokkal (a Free Courts Foundationtől) beszélgetünk majd a lengyel jogállamiságról, bírói függetlenségről. Szerintünk nagyon hasznos lehet tapasztalataik megosztása a magyar bírák számára is, különös tekintettel ügyük különböző európai fórumokon (EJEB és EU bíróságokon) való képviseletére, annak tanulságaira."
A beszélgetés a Magvető Cafe-ban lesz október 30-án, délután 4 és 6 között.

"Together with the Free Courts Foundation (Fundacja Wolne Sądy), we would like to invite you to a seminar under the title "Justice under attack - Lessons from Poland" which will take place in Budapest on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 16:00 CET in Magvető Café (Dohány utca 13).
The Free Courts Foundation is a non-governmental organization founded by a group of Polish lawyers in 2017. As professionals, realising the significance of the harmful changes introduced to the Polish legal system leading to the politicisation of independent courts, they undertake various activities to uphold the rule of law in Poland. Currently, members of the Foundation involved in more than 150 proceedings before national courts and the European Court of Human Rights that concern the independence of the judiciary. Lawyers from the Free Courts have obtained several landmark judgements and decisions that affect the functioning of the entire legal system in Poland. The Foundation is also involved in cases of great social importance concerning fundamental civil rights and freedoms.
A case study on Poland can be a warning to other countries as well as a source of knowledge for lawyers, judges and practitioners as well as students, Human Rights activists and civil society actors. It can help to respond more quickly and in a coordinated manner to similar challenges to the ones we have witnessed in Poland, such as destruction of the independence of judiciary, assaults on higher courts, media smear campaigns against judges or political instrumentalization of prosecution services."
